שָׁתַת
שָׁתַתI (cmp. שָׁתָה I) to come down slowly, flow gently. Ker.22a מפני שהוא שוֹתֵת because it (the last blood, תַּמְצִית) flows gently, opp. מקלח. Ḥull.38a בשוֹתֶתֶת when the animal discharges excrements in a lax manner, opp. מתרזת. Ohol. III, 5 השותת blood that flows gently, opp. המנטף, that drips. Ib.; Tosef. ib. IV, 11, v. צָלַב. Bekh.44b בשותת when he discharges urine laxly; a. e.Num. R. s. 19, beg. מפני מה … ולשונך שותת why dost thou go about with thy tongue slavering?; Koh. R. to X, 11.
